SEDONA IN SEPTEMBER: VISTAS & VIEWS

Over the weekend, the hubs and I went up to Sedona for a change of scenery. After driving for about two hours from Phoenix, the red rocks of Sedona was a sight for sore eyes! Such beauty - and even some GREENS! Some of those greens will change colors for the fall, so I'm hoping we can get back again.  The weather was much cooler (64 in am and at night). Tons of vistas and trails to hike or bike to take in the views. The view from our room at the Hilton was beautiful as well. We went to the Chapel of the Holy Cross (built into the rocks and inspired by New York City's Empire State Building), a jeep tour through the red-rocks, along with seeing an art show and touring a few shops. After hearing about eating cactus on our Jeep Tour, I tried it! I had fried cactus and a margarita made from cactus (both: the from a prickly pear cactus at the Cowboy Club).

Those peaks are called pinnacles...
The mountain-like structures that are wider than they are taller are called buttes...

Is this a Wright ramp or what?

Stunning views from the chapel...

I thought I may have had some luck finding some native Navajo rugs, blankets or pillows - but here in Sedona, they were too pricey for my budget - I will stick to finding thru thrift. I'll share some more photos of the textiles & shops in the next post. This was to just take in the scenery and surroundings. We usually try to travel somewhere in September, and with this being Jeff's week off, this was a great opportunity to do a little more exploring of Arizona.

Thanks for stopping by!
